(Boston, MA – November 2, 2017) Family Travel Advisor Forum, an exclusive B2B event focused on family vacations, including multi-generation, reunions and other group occasions celebrated with travel, will be partnering with Tourism Cares to support its Destination Disaster Recovery Fund. The Destination Disaster Recovery Fund is designed to support regions affected by major natural disasters, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and fires, which are occurring more frequently, often affecting tourism communities and livelihoods. This boutique-sized event will take place at the Moon Palace Jamaica from November 29 – December 3, welcoming a hand-selected audience of top-performing family vacation specialists along with key vacation providers in the family vacation arena.
“2017 has been an unprecedented year with an incredibly active hurricane season, not only impacting travel, but the overall well-being of our friends and families in affected areas. While our Give Back Program has been a big part of our events in previous years, the devastation in these regions caused by these disasters have profoundly hit home. We are honored to partner with Tourism Cares in our efforts in raising funds, and awareness of all this important organization contributes to our industry”, said Jennifer Fernandez, VP Events & Content, Specialty Travel Forums.
“We’re thrilled that the Family Travel Advisor Forum is supporting the Destination Disaster Recovery Fund,” said John Yonce, director of advancement at Tourism Cares. “With your support, together the industry will help these destinations build back stronger, faster.”
The Family Travel Advisor Forum will be hosting fundraising efforts surrounding the event, encouraging delegates and other industry partners to contribute in supporting destinations in the Caribbean, Texas and Florida following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. All donations will go to the Destination Disaster Recovery Fund. Travel agents that take part with a minimum $25 donation, will be extended a complimentary registration to Tourism Cares new Good Travels Advisor program, an online training and certification platform for travel agents that provides knowledge and tools to support clients interested in giving and volunteering. While the Forum will have an onsite program where funds will be collected, donations may also be made via: http://www.tourismcares.org/disasterrecovery.
